Light Filled Rooms to Live In

I adore this!  It just says everything an entry should say, come in, dogs welcome, put your stuff down here, and enjoy our home.  The use of sky like colors create a sense of "ahhhhh" which is most welcoming to guests coming to visit your home and get away from their own realities!  The basket suggests a casualness that makes your pulse immediately drop.  This is not the usual entry set up, its a surprise, its not expected and its wonderful!

White white white, summer summer summer, yes please, bring more of it!  A room adorned with flowers from the garden and white dishes and pottery are just enough to set the scene for any dinner party, casual lunch or just hanging out spot.

A place to get comfortable...love.

vignette of just perfect!

What a fun place to just be. A place to cook, dine, and swing

Making workspaces a place to be... just because you enjoy the space. A great idea! So....fresh flowers in the laundry room? Absolutely!

Light and bright and beautiful.

The nursery is a happy place just because of who lives there. Give your little ones lots of light and color to absorb and you too will enjoy hanging out in this magical space!

What a great place to pour over Nathalie Dupree's new book and then try some of her sure to be fabulous recipes!

Oh So Fetching...Rustic Chic

Barn wood and Crystal, Champagne and candlelight....all these delicacies create This illusive style so many of us are drawn to.  I for one am so glad to know that the style of my own personal home now has a name!  That Name is Rustic Chic!  Over the years when people have come to our home they would ask us, what is this style called?  Now we all know, we had thrown a few tags on it, like Country French eclectic, neo traditionalist, soft French and contemporary mix.....nope............read above, now it has a name and we are sticking with it.

We have included some photography of our home in this mix and hope that you enjoy the tour.  Our home is ever changing and growing.  Some days I wake up and move things around giving the thing and the space new life.  It is part of what I love about Design; a treasured old thing can bring the thrill of obtaining a new treasure with just relocation in the home.

We are thrilled to be carrying Bliss Studio as our newest line and feel it falls into the category of "future treasures".  Please take a look at Bliss Studio and Aidan Gray and all of our wonderful things that will add instant charm to your home!

We love hearing from you and all your stories and design victories and dilemmas, please send stories and photos and we will be thrilled to feature your home!

Spaces That Make Me want to Build!

I am so overexposed to Beauty and Creativity.  This is both Good and Bad.  I smile as I write this because everyone that knows me knows that I never stop creating, and if I say I am done, everyone laughs!

The Light in some of the spaces I am writing about today absolutely charm me.  When I spend hours looking at Different Homes I make a mental note of what my Home is missing, it's just unavoidable!

While our Home is wonderful, it is not what I would call light filled.  So I Dream and Ponder and mentally blow off the back wall of our House and build on with nothing but windows.  I know this is not practical, I know I do not need one extra square foot.

Soooo then I start dreaming about building again.  Having gone through this quite a few times with clients I have always chosen to stay away from it and protect my Marriage!

Please enjoy these light filled spaces, these are rooms through out the house that will make you feel good, and perhaps make you plan a long awaited project to bring the "light" into your Home!

Dreamy Culinary Playgrounds for Adults

My favorite room in the house is undoubtedly our Kitchen.  The Great House has helped so many people finally get their dream kitchens that I thought it would be a good thing to show a few of ours and a few that just are wonderful.

When you think of how much time is spent in the kitchen you realize it truly should be one of your favorite spaces.  There are so many ways to simply "tweak" a space that already has great potential and then of course if you are brave and up to it, just gut the thing and get what you want!

Two years ago my talented Husband Ken surprised me with a Walnut Island top that he himself had crafted, pictures below.  It was the best Christmas gift ever.  My cook top sits lovingly in that walnut top and has been a wonderful surface if any of you are worried about wood and a cook top sitting in it.  The first year I used to just go into the kitchen and stroke the walnut.  My Husband and I both have a weakness for the beautiful multi-tasking tree.

And I imagine the most important point to make is this, If your kitchen is classic, whether that be classic in the truest sense or classic contemporary, it never seems to go out of style.  And in this day of everything only being hip for an instant, that should bring you comfort.

Now.......go enjoy what should be the Center of your Home, and get creative with it!
