Modern Style for the "Traditionalist"

We know that many of us look around our homes and wonder how we might "freshen" our dull abodes.  Being traditional is something that never goes out of style... but how can that style be taken to the next level?  Is it ever OK to break the rules of Tradition and mix it up a bit?  We at The Great House say YES, and here's how!

Freshening up your walls with a neutral palette is a contemporary statement that your traditional pieces will LOVE.  It almost makes everything look rethought out and new.  Taking things out of a room that are "done," dated or unloved is a good beginning to the room's rebirth.

Changing up your upholstered pieces with new fabrics on pillows makes a world of difference.  Re-doing the sofa, the club chairs and the Wing chairs to reflect a more crisp, stream-lined look helps a room seem completely new.  Perhaps switch out the Persian rugs for a more updated choice such as Sea Grass.  Even if done seasonally for a lighter look, it is something you will enjoy.  Adding fresh, modern elements to a traditional setting is Unexpected, and every room deserves a bit of that.

And again, have fun with it... Explore, Experiment and Enjoy!
