So many things have changed in Design over the past 50 years. But there is one thing that has remained constant, the way we use the family room.
This space in our home is there to comfort us, to receive family and friends on special occasions and to be a "no rules" zone. We can put our feet up on all of it, we can drink our drinks, make our spills and sleep on whatever piece of furniture we wish.
Yet, we seem to care a bit more now how the room looks. It has to be beautiful. Even if it's just for us, we want to love the way it looks. In many cases our family rooms are really a part of our kitchen space, and that has to be beautiful too. Most of our clients have us start in that space. It is where we spend most of our time just "being."
The demise of formal spaces puts pressure on the family room to be functional and beautiful. It is easily attainable with a little attention to detail. This is the room where we can let loose, and express ourselves... Here are a few examples of just that!
